Under the patronage of Dr. Tareef bin Youssef Alaama, President of King Abdulaziz
University, the university held the closing ceremony of the Muneer Sendi Architecture
Award, Fourth Edition on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the Faculty of Architecture
and Planning. The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Amoudi,
Vice President for Business and Knowledge Creativity, and Eng. Khaled bin
Abdulhafidh Fadda, President of the Saudi Society for Urban Sciences.

A commemorative segment honoring the late architect Muneer Sendi was presented
by Eng. Mohammed Burhan, CEO of Omraniyoun and Partner Engineering
Consultancy. Following the tribute, awards and certificates were presented to
participants, and cash prizes were distributed to winners of the top projects across
various tracks.

The award was created to foster a spirit of healthy competition among students of
architecture and urban planning, promoting innovation through mentorship and
raising the standard of design thinking by encouraging student collaboration and
engagement.

Launched in 2020, the award is sponsored by the Saudi Society for Urban Sciences
and Omraniyoun and Partner Engineering Consultancy, in recognition of the
contributions of the late architect Muneer Sendi, who played a pivotal role in
designing numerous projects in Makkah, Jeddah, and Taif, and made significant
contributions to architectural education through his collaboration with the Department
of Architecture at Umm Al-Qura University.
